Waterloo Station is the busiest station in UK and is the heartbeat of the neighbourhood. The public realm surrounding the station suffers from poor legibility and serves as a disconnect to and from other parts of Waterloo.

Emma Cons Gardens is currently prone to anti-social behaviour, littering and rough sleeping and represents a significant neighbourhood opportunity to create a leading public realm environment at the heart of Waterloo.

Not only will the development improve the built environment along Waterloo Road but the development will also contribute towards a local public realm regeneration scheme with the following key initiatives;

  • Improve the public realm around Waterloo Station and draw footfall from the Station southwards into Waterloo.
  • Improve connections between Waterloo Road, Lower Marsh and The Cut and enhance way finding
  • Transform Emma Cons Gardens into a vibrant civic square at the heart of Waterloo and through lighting schemes and other security initiatives address the current anti-social behaviour in the area.
